WASHINGTON D.C. -- July 20, 2007 -- MD-VA-DC-POTOMAC RIVERMATTAWOMAN CREEK TO GEORGETOWN-WASHINGTON CHANNEL - TEMPORARY SECURITY ZONE
Mariners are advised that a U. S. Coast Guard commissioning ceremony will be held along Washington Harbor, at the Fort Lesley J. McNair waterfront, in Washington, DC on Friday, July 20, 2007. A temporary security zone becomes effective from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on July 20, 2007. This security zone, approximately 330 yards wide and 450 yards long, is located adjacent to Fort McNair and includes all waters of the Washington Channel, from surface to bottom, encompassed by lines connecting the following points, beginning at position 38º-52-03.0N, 077º-01-07.0W, thence to position 38º-52-03.0N, 077º-01-19.6W, thence to position 38º-51-50.0N, 077º-01-19.4W, thence to position 38º-51-50.0N, 077º-01-07.0W, thence to the point of origin at position 38º-5-03.0N, 077º-01-07.0W. The zone is necessary to provide for the security and safety of life and property of event participants, spectators and mariners on U. S. navigable waters during the events. Entry into this zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Baltimore. Coast Guard vessels enforcing the zone can be contacted on Marine Band Radio VHF channel 16 (156.8 MHz).
