WASHINGTON CHANNEL -- April 5, 2003 --
The Washington Waterfront Association (WWA) will launch its popular annual parade of lighted boats as part of the 2003 National Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, April 5, 7:00PM.
The brightly decorated array of boats will sail majestically up the waters of the Washington Channel within full view of the Southwest waterfront beginning at 7:00 PM.
The Presidential Yacht Sequoia will lead the parade. A dramatic 39-foot Chinese dragon boat and Hawaiian outrigger canoe powered by the National Capital Area Women's Paddling Association will enhance the flotilla with a striking light display and booming drum.
The parade can be viewed from waterfront restaurants or, at no cost, from East Potomac Park, the pocket parks along Water Street, or along the seawall on thr north side of the Channel, from the Titanic Memorial all the way up to the Fish Wharf. Take Metro to the Waterfront SEU Green Line station or L'Enfant PLaza (orange, blue, yellow lines).
