Serving Boaters' Since 1951
This is an important reminder that you need to check on your vessel before Hurricane Irene nears our area. We do not know the exact track of the hurricane but Hurricane Irene will be a dangerous hurricane as it tracks towards the East Coast this weekend, impacting areas far from the storm center track.
The threat level from the eastern N.C. to southern New England is extreme. The potential for widespread damaging winds, flooding rain, and, in some locations, coastal flooding and storm surge is very real this weekend.
Most boaters should add additional fenders and dock lines to secure your vessel – we have a good selection in our store. Rest assured the marina staff will be walking the docks and we hope to see every vessel sitting at home in its slip tied securely. However, it is your responsibility to come down to your vessel and take whatever steps you feel you need to secure it!
The US Coast Guard, DC Harbor, and all our local responders will be at hand if needed. If you need assistance in securing your vessel or have any questions, please give us a call.
Everyone please take this threat seriously. Even with the storm off the coast it may cause a large surge up the bay. Add to that above average tides damage to boats and piers is a real possibility. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
